Competition Scope
The competition will focus on innovations that enable a personalised medicine approach in primary care to support preventi on, early diagnosis and disease management and deliver patient benefit and improve the care pathway.
The innovations are likely to exploit genomic, AI and digital technologies and include, for example, point of care diagnostics, risk stratification systems, telehealth, and self-care platforms but exclude biopharmaceuticals, advanced therapies, nutritional and dietary supplements and direct to consumer lifestyle and well-being programmes.
The innovations should focus on application in primary care but can include products and platforms that accelerate the patient’s journey through, or create other efficiencies in, the care pathway.
In the UK primary care services provide the first point of contact in the healthcare system, acting as the 'front door' of the National Health Service (NHS) which serves a population of nearly 68 million. Primary care includes general practice, community pharmacy, dental, and optometry (eye health) services.
Award
The winners will be chosen from applications in each of the three categories. Each of the award winners will receive a funded trip to the UK in June 2021 including flights and hotel accommodation (subject to any restrictions relating to Covid 19). All award winners will participate in a tailored package of meetings with UK experts and organisations providing advice on business development and entering the NHS market.
Eligibility
The competition is open to healthcare and life sciences companies in Brazil. Companies must be brazilian to be eligible.
The product innovation should be market ready or expected to be within a year of application and the applicant must provide clear evidence to this effect.
Competition winners must be willing to participate in marketing and communications programmes run by the UK Department for International Trade in both Brazil and UK.
Application Process

The competition launches on 3rd December.

Applications must be submitted online using the application form provided by 31st January 2021

Only fully completed applications will be accepted.

A company cannot submit applications for the same innovation in more than one category.

Applications for innovations in the excluded categories will not be accepted (see under competition scope).

Finalists will be advised by 28 February 2021.

Each of the finalists will be asked to pitch their innovation in a live virtual competition [or possibly via submission of video] to a high-profile judging panel during March 2021.
