Why the UAE?

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of the UK's most important trading partners and one of the fastest growing markets for UK exports. In the second quarter of 2020 UK exports to the United Arab Emirates had risen YOY by 7%, amounting to £11.7bn.

The healthcare sector in the UAE is expanding rapidly; a steadily growing population, increasing average incomes, heightening awareness of health issues and the rising prevalence of lifestyle-based diseases are all increasing demand for healthcare. Key economic priorities, including enhancing inward investment in pharmaceutical manufacturing and R&D sectors offer real opportunities for UK clinical expertise and products.

Medical tourism also represents a key sector within Dubai’s healthcare planning. Newly built medical facilities offer opportunities for UK companies to fill gaps in provision in areas such as oncology, paediatrics, mental health, primary care, trauma, emergency services and long-term rehabilitation. There’s also a need for high quality equipment, digital health solutions, high quality training for staff, facilities management and infrastructure construction.
