About the event
The Department for International Trade has the pleasure to invite you to Colombia: A Growth Market for Insurance. This is a great opportunity to get to know the Colombia’s economy and the huge potential of its insurance sector.
With a population of 48.9 million people, Colombia is the third largest Latin American country by population and the fourth largest by GDP. It is a country characterised by its strategic location as a regional hub for Latin America, a fast-growing middle class and increasing foreign direct investment.
In 2018, Colombia became a member of the OECD. It has had an average economic growth of over 4% over the last decade, and the insurance sector is growing faster than Colombia’s GDP with a 9% growth rate and income over USD$9 billion in 2017.
Some of the topics that will be discussed throughout the session will be:
- general overview of the Colombian economy
- perspectives and trends of the insurance market in Colombia
- Colombia’s infrastructure programme, an opportunity for the UK insurance industry
- InsureTech and its possibilities in the Colombian market
- Agro-insurance: a market niche yet to be explored
