The Department for International Trade (DIT) is organising the Education is GREAT - British Style Schools Campaign in China in late October 2019, under the theme of exploring new regional opportunities for British-style international / bilingual schools in China. The UK delegation will be composed of new-to-market schools interested in China market and in-market UK schools seeking expansion opportunities in China.

The overall market size of China’s education industry is expected to reach £382bn by 2020, of which K12 education accounts for £91bn according to Deloitte. Driven by the strong market demand, the number of registered international/bilingual schools in China reached 1028 by October 2018, growing rapidly at 6.3% annually. And international schools are no longer the preserve for traditional Tier 1 cities. The number of regions with a British independent school has more than quadrupled in the past decade in China, with emerging opportunities arising from new Tier 1/Tier 2 cities.

Therefore, DIT will bring a UK school delegation to visit China, aiming to better scope out market opportunities in the emerging regions and foster relationships between UK schools and Chinese investors. This mission’s programme including conferences, match-makings and site visits, will mostly take place in Guangzhou and Shanghai, providing a platform to meet investors from across China and gain insight into the local market.
