Project Alloyed - An end to end Platform for CAV

Epitomical led Project Alloyed which set out to play a role in the build up of one of the four key areas identified in the UK’s Industrial Strategy , the Future of Mobility. The project has taken a usecase driven approach to identify and prioritise areas of  research and development together with 17 partners within the project consortium. The key technical objectives of the project were to study and where possible develop prototype systems which: 
1. Allow vehicles and infrastructure to connect seamlessly independent of technology or location
2. Tightly integrates to existing and future in-vehicles technologies
3. Enable a services layer allowing the creation of both open and secure services

Executed over 15 months from August, 2017 this project is an initial foray towards delivering a broader vision. A number of work packages were identified to deliver project objectives with each work package assigned a leader supported by one or more project partners. The project culminates with a number of demonstrations of the systems and concepts developed over the course of the project.

A Hard Case To Crack

In 2016, we were five ambitious young entrepreneurs who noticed a gap in the market: if you type in “phone case” on Amazon, you’ll get over 300,000 hits. But all of them either looked nice and offered zero protection, or they offered a degree of protection but were ugly as sin.

We moved to China to get a proper understanding of what goes into making a truly protective phone case. After years of R&D, we finally had a product we were proud of and confident in, so we put it to the ultimate test: we went public via crowd-funding platform, Indiegogo.

Our campaign broke the world record for the largest phone case crowdfunding campaign in Indiegogo history. We now have a huge, loyal customer base requesting us to protect not just their phones but all their tech! Through this loyal fanbase, we’ve grown from a guerrilla crowdfunding campaign into the Best Entrant to International Markets 2018. To date, we’ve shipped over 300,000 cases to over 216 countries and territories.
