Talon: Tools for autonomous logistics and mangement

Project Aim:To develop software to optimise the operations for connected autonomous vehicle fleets at city scale, to support both strategic and operational decision making and enhanced fleet management that meet the needs of our cities and people.

Primary Challenges; assimilating a variety of different data sources including traffic, infrastructure and weather, simulation scaling for city operations and real-time deployment of decision support system for fleets and cities

Key Successes: Delivered a new category of scalable fleet management tools, created a platform which can simulate anywhere in the world, developed an accessible, customisable user interface, integrated simulation engine with third party modules including SpatialOS, Unity and delivered user-focused trials in the UK’s world-leading CAV testbed environments

The release of the Harry Potter Kano coding kit 

The creative challenge was to teach the fundamentals of coding and introduce the basic concepts of real-world programming in simple, fun-to-do steps. The Harry Potter Kano Coding Kit does just that. This first-ever Harry Potter STEM product comes with a step-by-step coding manual that guides users through building the wireless- wand and teaches them about sensors and data all while they code. Once assembled, the wand can track your hand movement, making it easy to complete in-app coding challenges across six iconic Wizarding World settings.

The Harry Potter Kano Coding Kit quickly became one of Kano’s fastest pre-ordered kits of all time Apple also reached out to the brand to bring the interactive wand to apple.com and select Apple Stores with live demonstrations by staff, Microsoft will also be conducting live demonstrations at their flagship locations. Valerann turns roads into data generating infrastructure that sense everything that happens at every single point on the road network (traffic flow, road risks, accidents, road surface conditions, visibility, etc.). This forms the basis for the first complete road data platform the can provide data from the roads to all stakeholders. Over the past two years we developed a first commercial system. Deployed our system in the Washington Beltway (I-95) in the US, on the M1 Motorway in the UK and in Israel's busiest motorway (Ayalon). We have recently raised $6M and have partnered with major OEMs and Tier1 manufacturers.

Mercades-Benz became the first automaker to launch what3words in vehicles

A recent JD Power survey found that car navigation systems being difficult to use and inaccurate is one of the most frequently reported problems, along with voice recognition issues. The automotive industry has struggled to improve these features, because the world’s street addressing systems are incompatible with modern navigation needs, especially voice input. 

Addresses were not built for voice input. 240 California Street and to 40 California Street are hard for a voice system to distinguish between, and many road names aren’t unique. There are 14 different Church Roads in London, 632 Juarez Streets in Mexico City and 71 Peachtree Streets in Atlanta. Every 3 word address is unique and the AutoSuggest feature helps correct mistakes, making sure drivers reach the correct destination, every time. what3words enables Mercedes-Benz drivers to input 3 words to reach any 10ftx 10ft location. This allows drivers to input not just a building, but a precise entrance or parking spot, for a truly seamless experience.
