India AI Tech for Good Mission

DIT Technology & Smart Cities Trade Mission to India

 

The UK’s Department for International Trade is delighted to invite you to join a Tech for Good, AI business delegation to India in February 2020. The delegation will visit Bangalore and Mumbai meeting and interacting with the Indian business network.


In India today, technology has created waves across sectors. Technology for the social good has gained a lot of attention in India with the majority of Indian tech companies diversifying their work towards this new emerging sector. Sector opportunities exist in: 

  • Climate
  • Privacy and Cyber Security
  • Education
  • Access
  • Mobility
  • GovTech
  • Healthcare

Through this mission we aim to leverage innovation and collaboration to promote inclusive growth between UK & India (proposed agenda below registration link).

 

How to Participate

 

The mission will include free registration to the NASSCOM Leadership and Technology Forum, UK return flights (economy, 1 per company for eligible companies) and domestic flight transfers between Bangalore and Mumbai (economy, 1 per company for eligible companies).

 

Participants are expected to make their own visa arrangements and will be responsible for payment of their hotel bill on departure. A digital delegation brochure will also be prepared. The deadline for registration is 20th January 2020.

The proposed agenda is as follows

 

Sunday 9th February

  • Arrival and check in at hotel in Bangalore.
  • Briefing session with DIT.

 

Monday 10th February

  • Visit to a large Indian tech systems integrator. Delegates to meet senior leadership team to understand AI & Data Science roadmap (which is a proxy for to the AI roadmap of large tech companies in India), and in turn facilitate comparison with the UK AI ecosystem to understand gaps and opportunities.
  • Panel discussion for UK and Indian companies to share their experience of scale-up.
  • Pitching sessions for UK companies followed by a networking reception with key stakeholders from Bangalore's tech and innovation space.

 

Tuesday 11th February

  • Tinkering Lab hosted by The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE). The session will give UK companies the opportunity to work with Indian Tech founders/CxOs, gaining feedback on how to tailor their product or service to Indian market needs.
  • G-2-G roundtable with the Karnataka IT Ministry and Karnataka Innovation Agency to build on existing bilateral discussions within the UK-India Tech Cluster AI strand.
  • Fly to Mumbai and check into hotel.

 

Wednesday 12th February

  • NASSCOM Technology & Leadership Forum (NTLF) 2020 - attended by central government departments, senior government officials/ministers, state government officials/ministers, and senior business leaders across tech.
  • NASSCOM driven roundtable discussion organised with State Government Officials (IT Ministries) and Top Business contacts in AI/Data-Sciences from within the NASSCOM member network.
  • B-2-B match making and pitching sessions organised through the NASSCOM app. UK companies to schedule and fix their own meetings in the 'Meet and Greet' area.
  • Gala Dinner and Networking Reception organised by NASSCOM for their VVIP Guests and foreign delegates.

 

Thursday 13th February

  • Pitching event organised by DIT for UK companies; audience will include VCs/PE-Funds, and Indian Businesses looking for collaboration.
  • Visit to Indian Institute of Technology- Bombay (IIT-B)- R&D collaboration tour combined with a roundtable discussion with universities, incubators, innovation labs, and India SME and majors looking potentially for technical/research collaborations.
  • Hackathon- jointly organised with IIT-B and NASSCOM.

 

Friday 14th February

  • End of Hackathon activity and end of mission programme.
