About the event

Join us aboard a P&O Ferry to sail your business to new adventures . The Department for International Trade and Northern Powerhouse Export Champion and Export Advocate David Greenwood-Haigh from Coeur de Xocolat have joined forces to deliver a taster visit for food and drink businesses to explore their export potential.

The visit will commence on 19 March 2020 with an export strategy workshop on board the ferry where you will come away with an export action plan for your business, followed by a chocolate tasting and pairing session with David, giving you the opportunity to network with likeminded food and drink businesses while indulging in delicious snacks.

You will then explore the Belgian market first hand with one of our experienced International Trade Advisers and find out more about the opportunities for your business.

The visit is ideal for Yorkshire and the Humber based businesses operating in the following sectors, wanting to explore their export potential:

  • Craft breweries
  • Snack providers
  • Alcoholic beverage manufacturers and distributors of gin, whiskey and other spirits
  • Other related sectors with a unique offer to the Belgian market

Belgium is an affluent and multicultural country within Europe. It has a strong and longstanding trading relationship with the UK and is our 8th largest trading partner. English is an accepted business language and for many UK companies Belgium is just a short train or ferry ride away, making it the ideal export destination for lots of UK companies. In particular Bruges, a popular tourist destination, has a lot of opportunities to offer and with over 70 chocolate shops breweries and hundreds of restaurants and bistros in the city, it is easy to see why Bruges is considered one of the food capitals of Europe.

There is a £99 plus VAT registration fee which covers return ferry fare and overnight stay, including accommodation on board, breakfast, dinner and all programme activities.
