Join the Department for International Trade North East for an opportunity to explore your potential in the Cambodian market.

HM Ambassador to Cambodia, Tina Redshaw will be visiting the region on Thursday 20th February and is eager to meet North East businesses. Cambodia has seen a 7% growth each year for the past decade; around 80% literacy rate; a young population – c 60% under 35 years of age, with a corresponding interest in modern brands, increasingly ‘cool’ ‘lifestyle’ products.

Whether your looking to explore your potential within this market or considering Cambodia as a gateway to South East Asia, this is a great opportunity to get free one to one advice for your business from an in-market expert.

Tina Redshaw

Her Britannic Majesty's Ambassador to the Kingdon of Cambodia

Tina Redshaw became the first female British Ambassador to Cambodia in July 2018. Prior to taking up her role in Cambodia, she spent 18 months learning the Khmer language.

Tina has extensive experience in Asia, having served twice in the British Embassy in Beijing (2000 to 2003 and 2007 to 2010), and most recently as the British Consul-General in Chongqing (2013 to 2016). Tina was Her Majesty`s Ambassador to Timor-Leste from 2003 to 2007. In London Tina has worked as Deputy Head of Climate Change and Energy, and in both the China and South East Asia Departments.

Tina’s early career, prior to joining the Foreign Office, was with the UK`s international volunteering organisation Voluntary Service Overseas, initially as Country Director for China and Mongolia, and subsequently as Regional Director for Southeast Asia.

Tina holds a Master’s Degree in International Development Management from the Open University and a Bachelor’s degree in Language and Linguistics from the University of York. Tina speaks Mandarin Chinese, German, Khmer, with some basic French, Spanish, Tetum and Thai. She enjoys listening to a wide range of music, visiting the theatre and watching dance performance and exploring wherever she lives by bicycle and foot, often with her camera in hand.
