Please note this is a practical event aimed at North East based businesses interested in trading internationally or wanting to learn more about the service Department for International Trade North East (formerly UKTI North East) provides.

Join the Department for International Trade North East and Sunny Sky Solutions for a free webinar examining the current climate in Latin America and the business opportunities available within this region.

Latin America has been badly hit by the COVID-19 crisis. However, the region is still demanding products and services as diverse as agritech, gourmet food, ecommerce solutions, distance learning, and hygiene products, to name a few.

In this webinar, Gabriela Castro-Fontoura, Director at Sunny Sky Solutions, will join us from Uruguay to inspire us to look at opportunities in the region while giving us a realistic picture of what’s happening in the region right now.

Having travelled on business to countries such as Costa Rica, Panama, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Ecuador, Colombia and Brazil, she will share us some top tips. A Durham University Alumna, Gabriela has a real understanding of how far away Latin America can feel to North East exporters, and knows how to bridge that distance.

Export Champion, Peter Thompson from Evans Vanodine International plc will provide a case study sharing his experiences of trading in Latin America. With 35 years’ experience in international sales, Peter will be providing practical advice, best practice and tips on how to overcome common challenges that many exporters face.

As newly appointed Northern Powerhouse Latin America and the Caribbean Business Manager, Carolina Silva will be joining us from Rio de Janeiro, outlining how this new service will provide NPH exporters with the latest updates in opportunities, support navigating challenges to initiate sales or grow existing business.

The webinar will be closed by Joanna Crellin, HM’s Trade Commissioner to Latin America and the Caribbean. Joanna was British Consul-General in São Paulo from 2015 to 2020 and took up her current post in April 2018.
