Webinar "Future of Learning: Empowering Teachers in a Fast Changing World"

Held annually on 5 October, World Teachers' Day commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, an important set of guidelines which helps promoting teachers' status in the interest of quality education. The celebration aims to raise awareness about the role of teachers in playing quality education across the world.

In this hour-long Webinar, the UK Government will promote a discussion on the critical role teachers play in education, especially in the key ways education is set to change in the near future. As the world we live in changes to embrace technology, how and what we teach in our education system will also be reshaped to keep up to date with the growing demands of the 21st century. Our specialists will share the UK experience and success stories in teacher training and EdTech, shedding light on the trends and new ways technology and Artificial Intelligence can support teachers and innovative learning methodologies. The Webinar and registration form will be in English, and participants will have access to the presentation material and recording after the event.

Cat Scutt
Director of Education & Research at Chartered College of Teaching

A former English teacher, Cat’s roles have since focused on supporting teacher development both online and through face-to-face activities, with a particular focus on development through collaboration and through engagement with research and evidence. She has worked as a teacher and advisor in the state and independent sector, as well as in corporate learning and development. Cat leads on the Chartered College Of Teaching’s work around teacher CPD, including the Chartered Teacher programme, and their research activities and publications, including their termly peer reviewed journal, Impact. In addition, Cat is a studying for her doctorate at the UCL Institute of Education.

 
Priya Lakhani
Founder CEO at CENTURY Tech

Priya Lakhani is the Founder CEO of CENTURY Tech, the award-winning artificial intelligence teaching and learning platform for schools, colleges and universities. In 2008, Priya left her career as a barrister to launch a successful FMCG business, providing millions of meals and 35,000 vaccinations to the underprivileged. Priya was awarded Business Entrepreneur of the Year in 2009 and OBE in 2014. She has been a member of the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills’ Entrepreneurs’ Forum and sits on the UK government’s AI Council. Priya is a thought leader in education and AI and regularly appears on BBC News to comment on current affairs.
