Following the growth of e-commerce over the past year, the German Food and Drink market has become more accessible for British brands and there is a growing demand from the German public for more international products on the shelves of retailers.

In response to these developments, our colleagues at DIT Germany have offered to present the opportunities available to Midlands Food and Drink businesses who are interested in starting exporting to Germany, or finding new routes to market and can help you to overcome any barriers.

Why you should consider Germany

Germany is the UK’s 2nd largest export market for Food and Drink and in 2019 the UK exported £1.5billion worth of products in the sector.

German retailers and discounters have expressed an interest in a number of speciality products in the Food and Drink sector, as well as private label products which is a fast-growing sector and attractive option for both retailers and consumers.

As UK manufacturers are world-renown for quality there is a demand for the following products:

•  Free From
•  Vegan
•  Cheese and dairy
•  Savoury snacks
•  Fine foods
•  Private label: both low price and premium lines
