Finding Money and Getting Your Game Made

Finding funding, meeting investors, and launching your game are always challenging, even as the industry has earned record-high revenues during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Join the UK's Department for International Trade (DIT) and US game industry leaders to understand how UK developers can navigate the new Now and attract funding from VCs to get their games made.  Hear from Shanti Bergel from Transcend Fund, Peter Y Levin from Griffin Gaming Partners and Michael Cheung from Makers Fund about how to get in front of them; the kinds of games they're looking to invest in; and their view of the future for gaming.

About our speakers:

Shanti Bergel, Co-Founder/Managing Director, Transcend Fund is a games producer turned digital entertainment investor.  He has devoted nearly 30 years to the game industry in roles ranging from product management to corporate development at companies like Electronic Arts, FunPlus, Playfish and GREE.  His fascination with how changes in technology and distribution affect products and community led him from traditional AAA in the 90s to MMOs and free to play in the 2000s, then on to social and mobile in the 2010s, and finally to cloud and omni-platform today.  Bergel currently serves as Managing Director for Transcend Fund, a $50m fund devoted to investing in early-stage game companies.

Peter Y Levin is Managing Director of Griffin Gaming Partners, an early and late stage investment vehicle singularly focused on the video game sector.  Prior to Griffin, Levin served as President of Interactive Ventures, Games & Digital Strategy at Lionsgate.  He is the former CEO and Co-Founder of Nerdist Industries, a multi-platform creator of genre and popular-culture content, as well as the former Co-President of Digital Strategy at Legendary Entertainment.  Levin currently serves as Chairman of Immortals Gaming Club, on the Board of Directors of N3TWORK, Wizard Labs and Next Games, and also serves on the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission Board of Directors.  Venture capital Fund Griffin Gaming Partners recently raised $235m to invest in game companies and related technologies around the world.

Michael Cheung is a General Partner at Makers Fund, a global interactive entertainment dedicated venture capital firm founded in 2017 focused on investing in early stage companies.  Michael spent the last decade helping companies grow and scale overseas in the interactive entertainment industry, and previously served as a Senior Director at Tencent.  To date, Makers has backed over 60 companies across 15 geographies.
