Food and Drink is the EU’s second biggest sector for imports with Germany, Benelux and France the top importers. It’s the second biggest area of household spending in the EU with pleasure and health the two main drivers of innovation and consumption. 

FMCG has seen a huge growth in e-commerce across Western Europe during the pandemic. Other consumer trends are towards environmentally friendly products, health and wellness, convenience and personalisation. 

North West Europe is the powerhouse of the EU economy and its consumer heartland. Join this Export Insight Programme to find out what it takes to succeed in these competitive sectors of these mature markets. Our programme, delivered in partnership by DIT and WABEL – an international B2B matchmaking company with particular expertise in FMCG and food & drink, will deliver real insights and meaningful advice and onward referrals to help you enter or grow your sales in the Benelux, German speaking DACH markets and /or France.

The programme comprises:

  • July 7th:  The European FMCG and Food market Webinar– overview and insights - introductory webinar alerting you to current trends and opportunities and key requirements for success in these markets.
  • July- August: Personal consultations with DIT West Midlands’ Culture and Communications Adviser Gerti Willis- and/or DIT Midlands FMCG Specialist Adviser, Vincenzo Gallone- or Emma Clayton- DIT Midlands Food & Drink Specialist Adviser.
  • September 2nd: Join our highly regarded Virtual Pitching Workshop with Mike Kelly to hone your skills.
  • September 8th:  Dragons Den – a chance to pitch your product/service to our hand-picked panel of sector and market specialists including WABEL, Sutralis, Honinx and ExpertinBrands as well as DIT and other business support experts who will give bespoke advice and feedback- live and through written follow up. This is not a Meet the Buyer per se, but these advisers are exceptionally well connected and will refer you to other useful commercial or advisory contacts. 

Please note - there are only 10 places available and participants must be ERDF eligible to join the programme.

ERDF funds can’t support companies who earn more than 70% of their revenue from B2C sales and that food and drink products need a minimal level of processing to be eligible. Once you’ve completed the registration we can advise you further.
