Baerbel has been working as a Trade Adviser for Life Sciences in the British Consulate-General Duesseldorf since 2009. As part of the sector, her focus is on medtech and healthcare. The health industry is an important sector for the German economy,. It was worth €370 billion in 2018 with every 6th employee working in the sector which accounts for 12% of the German GDP.

Shona has worked in DIT for 14 years. She has an international background working in both the private and public sector in Germany and Spain. Her areas of expertise lie in the life science and agritechnology sectors.

Sally Koorneef

Sally trained as a General Nurse in the UK and achieved all her practical nursing experience in the University Clinic in Tuebingen, Germany. Upon return to her native Ireland, she moved into the business sphere and worked in Clinical Research and managed her own Healthcare Consultancy. After taking a break to spend time raising her three children, she re-entered the workforce focusing on Healthcare and Life Sciences. She has recently finished a BSc in Geo-Science. Sally moved to Abu Dhabi with her husband in 2011 and since moving here, she has worked in the Healthcare and Life Sciences sector throughout the Gulf region. Her understanding of the Life Sciences Marketplace is strong and she keeps it current.

Ashwin has been working with the British high commission since 2013 and has been leading on healthcare and life sciences for southern India. Prior to this, he had worked on market research and as a consultant at Ernst and Young.

Kaori heads the life sciences trade promotion work for the DIT Japan team at the British Embassy Tokyo. She covers a wide range of sub-sectors including medical devices, digital health and bio/pharma to chemicals.
