Events > North East LEP - India Business Group: Inaugural Meeting

Businesses from across the North East LEP area (County Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, Northumberland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, and Sunderland) are invited to join the inaugural meeting of the North East LEP-India Business Group. The group has been formed to help local businesses take advantage of the trade and investment opportunities with one of the UK’s largest export markets, India.

Some aspects of international trade are largely the same, irrespective of the markets involved, but some challenges and opportunities are unique, depending on the countries concerned. To that end, we want to bring together as many businesses as we can from the North East LEP area who are already exporting or trading successfully with India and also invite businesses who are new to the Indian market or who would like to be. We hope this will become a local network that meets regularly and enables the sharing of ideas, contacts, and information about trading with India.

Businesses from all sectors, of any size and export experience, are welcome to join our first meeting. The event is designed to bring together companies based in the North East LEP that have a common interest in India, from both a trade and investment perspective and provide the opportunity to share best practice and experiences. We hope that by creating a regular opportunity for like-minded businesses to get together we can harness the power and experience of the collective, to complement the support and assistance that is available from public bodies.

During the meeting, you will hear from businesses that have enjoyed export success in India and about the initiatives aimed at helping you access the market for the first time or increase your current business there.

Numbers will be limited so please register early to not miss out on the opportunity to hear from and meet with like-minded businesses to help explore your potential of doing business in India.

Eligibility Criteria: To attend, businesses must be based in the North East LEP area and have an exportable product or service, with an interest in doing business with India – either through trade or investment.
