Japan - Spacetide, 13-18 December 2021

The British Embassy Tokyo will have a UK stand at Spacetide, Asia's leading New Space business conference, and are calling for applications from UK space companies with relevant capabilities who are interested in being promoted at the event.

The New Space business is growing rapidly worldwide, and Japan is no exception. The number of New Space start-ups has multiplied over the past five years attracting investment from leading Japanese companies including non-traditional space sector players, who are exploring new business opportunities using innovative space technologies and data.

Spacetide is a key forum for New Space players and stakeholders from all over the world to get together and share visions and insights on the commercialisation of space, while networking with potential business partners and clients. The platform will be an ideal gateway for UK companies seeking to do business in Japan to be introduced to the market under the UK brand represented by the Embassy.

Spacetide is taking place physically in Tokyo over 13-18 December 2021 as well as through an online virtual platform. The UK stand will provide promotional marketing material to Spacetide attendees, including a UK Space Company Directory.

For applications for entering into the UK Space Company Directory and for supplying marketing materials to feature on the UK stand, the deadline is 23:59 GMT on 31 October 2021. Applicants will be notified of their outcome by 5 November 2021.

From this opportunity, you can expect:

  • Company information translated into Japanese to feature in the UK Space Company Directory.
  • Company marketing materials to be physically distributed on the UK stand (companies are responsible for shipping costs).
  • Company information and marketing materials to be displayed on the online platform.
  • Promotion to local traditional and social media.
  • Contact details shared where agreed with a Japanese audience.

To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Have a registered UK company.
  • Your company must have been trading in the sector for a minimum of two years.
  • You have products/services which are ready to trade and commercially viable.
  • You have a compelling offer in the New Space sector (this may include, but is not exclusive to: small satellites, space data applications, space debris removal, etc).

Please note that we have a limited number of spaces in the Directory and will select the fifteen most competitive submissions. Selection will be based on the above criteria and the suitability and needs of the offers to the market.

We look forward to your application. If you have any enquiries, please contact atsuko.kikuchi@fcdo.gov.uk and space@trade.gov.uk.
