Space Sector Export Academy

The deadline for applicants to apply for the Space Sector Export Academy was 13/04/2021. Registration has now closed.

Welcome to the Department for International Trade's Space Sector Export Academy, announced as part of the Space Sector COVID Support Plan. This programme will offer a cohort of SME businesses the opportunity to gather insight from industry partners on how to export. The first cohort will focus on the Australian market.

The aim of the academy is to support UK-based space technology SME's to unlock their potential to export. This will be achieved through a structured learning programme exploring key principles for exporting. The programme will consist of six virtual workshops commencing from April 2021 and concluding in a virtual business-to-business event in August 2021. The six workshops will cover:

  1. Australian market overview and entry
  2. Trade policy and market access barriers
  3. Legal compliance and regulatory framework
  4. Access to finance
  5. Banking and Tax
  6. Virtual pitching

The sessions will be jointly delivered by key industry professional partners and HM Government in a confidential environment. Each workshop will be approximately 1 hour long, taking place once every two to three weeks.

The programme will culminate in August with a virtual business to business event with Australian space industry. This opportunity will allow the cohort to apply their newfound skills and knowledge to build new international partnerships and potentially secure export deals. Further details will be revealed to the cohort at a later date.

There will be no fee to take part in the Export Academy, but we ask that all participating companies fully commit to the programme.

Eligibility to take part in the programme. You must:

  1. Be based in the UK.
  2. Have an established product or service that is ready to be exported.
  3. Be new or in the early stages of exporting.
  4. Have a genuine interest and a competitive offer in the Australian market
