Prof. Isaac Túnez Fiñana

Secretary General for R + D + i - Regional Ministry of Health and Families of Andalusia

PhD in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Cordoba, where he is a professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He is an expert in Research Methodology in Health Sciences and holds a master's degree in the same subject from the University of Cordoba, and has also received intensive training in transcranial magnetic stimulation at Harvard University.

As an academic, he has been vice-rector of Personnel at the University of Cordoba and corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Sciences, Fine Arts and Noble Arts of Cordoba.

As a researcher, he is head of the Nutrition and Oxidative Stress group at IMIBIC (Maimonides Institute of Biomedical Research) and has co-directed the doctoral thesis: Assessment of oxidative stress induced by physical exercise in two groups of prepubertal and pubertal males, awarded by the Regional Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Sport of Andalusia. 

Prof. Michael Scott

Director - MOIC - Regional Medicines Optimisation Innovation Centre

The Medicines Optimisation Innovation Centre (MOIC) is a regional centre in Northern Ireland dedicated to driving innovation in medicines use. We combine pharmaceutical and research and development skills with technology and business acumen to achieve smarter medicines and better outcomes for patients. With a strong patient focus, MOIC is uniquely placed to deliver better patient outcomes by developing and sharing best practice in medicines use through research, innovation, quality improvement and knowledge transfer. Optimising medicines is vital for an ageing population and the increasing complexity of medicine regimens. MOIC works closely with partners across a range of sectors including heathcare, academia and commercial and welcomes collaboration with industry.

 

Professor Mike Scott is the Director of the Regional Medicines Optimisation Innovation Centre (MOIC). In 1994 he established the first academic practice unit in the province in conjunction with the Queens University of Belfast. In 2004 he was made a fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland. In June 2009 he was made an honorary Professor of Pharmacy Practice at QUB. He was awarded the Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists gold medal for outstanding contribution to the health service at national level in 2010. In 2014 he received the special achievement award from the Ulster Chemists Association for outstanding contribution to the development of pharmacy in Northern Ireland. In 2016 he was awarded the United Kingdom Clinical Pharmacy Association Lifetime Achievement Award. Most recently in 2019 he received the David Samways Award from the Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists in recognition of outstanding National Contribution to the practice of pharmacy procurement.

Javier Montero Plata

Director - Andalusian Public Health System Technology Transfer Office
Javier graduated in Biology from the University of Granada in 1999. In 2010 he completed his PhD in Applied Business Economics. He also holds a Master's degree in Biotechnology from the Aliter International Business School in Madrid. His professional career began in 2003 when he joined Genoma España as an analyst and coordinator of Economic Studies in the Technology Transfer Unit. Subsequently, he became General Manager at Algenex, S.L. Alternative Gene Expression. His scientific training and his experience in business management in the biotechnology sector have led him to publish several articles related to the field of biotechnology. Since 2011 he has held the position of Director of Technology Transfer Office at the Andalusian Public Foundation Progreso y Salud.

Terry has over 40 years experience in the international telecommunications industry much of it gained with Welsh based companies that include Mitel Telecom, Newbridge Networks, and Ubiquity Software. Terry was involved with these companies in their start-up phase and he was instrumental in their European business growth. He is also a co-founder and Board Member of Digital Peaks Technology which now forms the RWG iCare Division of RWG Mobile. Terry is focused on realising the mission of RWG iCare which is to improve and enhance the wellbeing of individuals by creating connected care communities through the delivery of a wide range of services that address the needs of Social & Health Care within the community.

Charmaine Arbouin

Charmaine Arbouin has been British Consul for Andalucía, the Canaries, Ceuta and Melilla since 2013 – representing and supporting UK Nationals, and enhancing diplomatic ties between the UK and Spain. Prior to that, she worked in both the public and charity sectors with a strong focus on improving public services. She has a degree in Spanish literature and is a keen student of sevillanas.

Luis Fernández-Luque

My core scientific contribution is in the intersection of computer science and behavioral science within a common focus on supporting people living with chronic conditions. Further, Global Digital Health is my vocation and research and innovation my passion. I enjoy advocating and communicating on how digital health can transform our healthcare and ultimately empower people if we do it right. I am currently involved in launching a new digital therapeutics startup combining AI and behavioral science in unique ways. As Chief Scientific Officer at Adhera Health, my role is to bring 15+ years of experience in digital health research to our solutions aim at empowering people with chronic conditions. We believe, if done properly, digital therapeutics will increase human health equity by focusing on the people rather than strictly on the chronic conditions. During my 15 years of experience in digital health, I have been involved in real-world digital health initiatives in Europe, Asia, Americas and Africa. In particular, I have been studying how to use web, mobile and wearable technologies to support patient self-management. I have had the honor to work with leading academics, clinicians, pharmaceutical companies, patient advocates and HealthTech companies across the globe.

Alejandro Suero Pineda

PhD candidate, Physiotherapist, Master in New Trends in Health Sciences. Alejandro has developed his clinical and research activity in musculoskeletal pathology and therapeutic exercise. Alejandro has authored several book chapters, articles in high impact journals and has been a speaker at more than 20 national and international congresses. He has also participated in innovation, technology and entrepreneurship programmes in Spain and abroad.

Hassan Chaudhury

Global Digital Health Specialist - Department for International Trade - DIT
Hassan provides digital health insight to DIT commercial teams at UK Embassies in over 100 countries in addition to supporting innovators, investors, Governments and health systems. His background is in social work, NHS informatics and public health. He was later a founder at Health iQ - an award-winning real world data agency, and held CIO and Chief Commercial Officer positions before its acquisition and his exit in 2019. He is a member of the Editorial Board of The International Journal of Digital Health, the Healthcare Exec Committee at The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and the NIHR AI in Health and Care Award Assessment Panel. He is also Co-Chair of both the HIMSS Global Innovation Committee and the PM Society Diversity Interest Group. Hassan mentors for the NHS Innovation Accelerator, KQ Labs at The Francis Crick Institute, SimDH at London South Bank University and The Edison™ Accelerator with Wayra and GE Healthcare. He also holds an Honorary Research post at Imperial College London and is a Visiting Lecturer at UCL Global Business School for Health. He is a Director at Vita Healthcare and Inovia Bio, and also part of the commercial team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

Dr David Moreno-Ramírez

Chair & Clinical Director, Professor of Dermatology, Medical-Surgical Dermatology & Venereology Unit - Hospital Universitario Virgen Macarena / University of Sevilla
David Moreno-Ramírez is Professor of Dermatology in the University of Sevilla and the present Chair of the Medical-Surgical Dermatology and Venereology Unit at the Hospital Universitario Virgen Macarena (Seville-Spain).

The main clinical and research topics since his dermatology certification in 2003 have been the application of communication technologies to dermatologic care delivery, oncologic surgery of malignant melanoma, dermoscopy, epidemiology of skin cancer, and psoriasis. Telemedicine projects conducted have been supported by official competitive grants and public-health care institutional programs. These projects have given rise to an outstanding scientific output, and even the intellectual property registry has been achieved for some of the technologies developed.

In the field of melanoma Dr. Moreno-Ramírez heads a referential unit on the medical-&-surgical treatment of advanced malignant melanoma (primary tumor surgery, lymph nodes management, electrochemotherapy, systemic immunotherapy, etc.), and non-melanoma skin cancer surgery. This dedication led him to join the Melanoma Clinic of the Hospital Clinic (Barcelona-Spain) in charge of the dermatologic surgery area.

The interest in public health and health management led him to be appointed as Medical Director and Deputy Managing Director of the Hospital Universitario Virgen Macarena between 2011-2015. He has also coordinated studies on epidemiology of malignant melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer.

Dr. Moreno-Ramírez is former President of the International Society of Teledermatology, board member of the European Association of Dermato-Oncology, member of the International Affairs Committee of the American Academy of Dermatology and member of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, and the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology.

Since 2014 is the editor of the medical education program of Actas Dermosifiliograficas, the official scientific journal of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology.
