I Encontro do GFANZ + Race to Zero Brasil: mobilizando as finanças e entregando a implementação

28 March, 2022

Race to Zero Campaign
Launch of GFANZ in Brazil

28th March 2022

14h - 15h (Brazil Time)

17h - 18h (UK Time)

During COP26, that took place in Glasgow in November last year, the Paris rulebook was finalised and a series of commitments were published aiming to tackle climate change. In that context, during the months prior to COP, Brazil had 14 states, over 40 cities and 200 businesses pledge to the Race to Zero Campaign.

The Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) was also launched during COP26 and, currently, the priority is to expand the Alliance’s geographical membership so that it is more representative of the global community. Brazil has the largest financial sector in Latin America – it is also an extremely concentrated sector, with a number of internationally significant corporations.

In 2022, the key-word is “implementation”. The focus of all parties involved is to implement what was agreed during negotiations ahead of COP and during the Conference itself.

As COP26 President Alok Sharma will be visiting Brazil this month, it gives the Race to Zero community an opportunity for gathering once again (as it happened last time he visit the country, in August 2021), and the GFANZ group to connect and grow stronger.
