TVET Skills Trade Mission Viet Nam

Wednesday, 23 November 2022

The Department for International Trade (DIT) is pleased to announce a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) skills mission to Viet Nam. This important trade mission comes after the recently signed UK-Vietnam memorandum of understanding relating to TVET / skills.

The trade mission will be led by Jonathan Ledger, the UK Government’s Skills Specialist and will consist of UK registered organisations looking to establish new and build upon existing partnerships in Viet Nam.

Viet Nam’s skills system is developing at pace and the opportunities to support further positive change are significant. The UK is recognised as a key partner well placed to support the development and implementation of Viet Nam’s skills approaches through high quality skills collaboration and long-term partnerships.

Viet Nam aspires to develop into a modern, industrialised country by 2045 with industry to contribute 40% of GDP by 2030 and value-added high-tech products to reach at least 45% where vocational training is at the centre.

Key challenges include the delivery of obsolete training compounded by absence of industry-led training programmes, lack of capacity and experience of teaching staff as well as low ratio of trained workers and training scale to actual demand.

UK registered TVET skills organisations are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EoI) to join this trade mission. To allow for an in-depth programme, each institution can be represented by one person and should only submit one EoI for each organisation.
