Why Chile?

As a UK Fintech business, if you are not already exploring the opportunities that Chile’s Fintech sector offers, you may be missing a trick! Chile has long been a commercially like-minded and open business partner for the UK. Links go back many decades and there are close ties politically and militarily.

In recent times, Chile has become a truly impressive and modern market. With the highest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita in the region. It is an ideal place to develop and explore new opportunities thanks to its natural riches and demand for innovative solutions.

Chile’s Fintech ecosystem is the third highest ranked in Latin America after Mexico and Brazil. What’s more is that right now, Chilean law makers are debating a Fintech bill that will establish a regulatory framework which could help spur investment and innovation – and UK Fintech firms are perfectly placed to be part of this positive change.

Chile is regularly ranked the highest in South America for the ease of doing business by the World Bank due to its economic stability. There are many opportunities in modernisation, digital and ecofriendly initiatives.

Chile is the first country in the world with which the UK signed a post-Brexit trade continuity agreement. It is a founding member of the Pacific Alliance and the CPTPP, and as such prides itself on being open for business. The UK is a globally recognised leading Fintech hub with World Class talent, a forward thinking approach to regulation, an innovative financial sector and access to capital. This has led to such innovations as p2p lending, challenger banks, digital wallets, AI, blockchain, paytech, insurtech, tech for good and more. This means that innovative UK Fintech companies are brilliantly placed to work with partners in the
rapidly emerging and UK friendly Chilean Fintech marketplace.
