Black Tech Founders Mission to NYC
22 – 24 February 2022

The British Consulate General in New York is proud to announce a cohort of 12 innovative UK companies as part of the UK’s Black Tech Founders Mission to NYC.

This inaugural 2-month programme, starting virtually and culminating with an in-person visit to NYC, will focus on scaling a tech business & raising VC funding in the US. Recognising the barriers Black tech founders face accessing venture capital, this programme will seek to elevate the selected participant’s profiles to NYC based investors & the wider NYC tech community.

I am delighted to support our inaugural UK Black Founders Mission to New York. We know that Black founders in the UK are vastly under-represented when it comes to raising venture capital, receiving less than 0.24% of VC funding from 2009-19, with only one Black female founder successful in that period. I am committed to tackling that gap and supporting entrepreneurs across all parts of UK society to succeed in their ambitions to grow, export and add to the ever growing list of UK-born unicorns. I look forward to welcoming you to New York in February 2022.”
 – Kunal Khatri, Acting HM Trade Commissioner USA, British Consulate General New York
