Programme highlights

The trade mission programme is in development and will seek to facilitate and deepen bilateral trade and investment between the UK and Canada in the civil nuclear sector, leveraging both economies shared commitment to expand nuclear power generation in the medium term. The programme will include the following:

  • Participation in CNA West in Calgary, focused on nuclear growth opportunities in Western Canada.
  • Market briefings and industry sessions in Toronto, Cambridge and Ottawa.
  • Meetings with government, utility and industry stakeholders.
  • Site and facility visits linked to major nuclear projects and supply-chain capabilities.
  • Networking receptions and business matchmaking with Canadian nuclear partners.


Programme
The draft trade mission programme is as follows and is to be confirmed:

2-4 November, Calgary
• Attendance at the Canadian Nuclear Association West conference in Calgary, Alberta, 2–4 November.
• Trade Mission Information sessions in the margins of the event with key civil nuclear decision-makers.

5 November, Toronto
• Information session featuring presentations from the UK Government including the British Consul General, UK Department for Business, Innovation, Science & Trade (BIST), UK Export Finance.
• Presentations by Canadian Tier 1 or Tier 2 civil nuclear suppliers.
• UK–Canada matchmaking meetings in Toronto, organised in partnership with industry associations.
• Site visit
• Reception hosted by the British Consul General at the Official Residence

6 November, Cambridge
• Information session featuring presentations from the Waterloo/Cambridge Municipality and the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service Waterloo.
• UK–Canada matchmaking meetings organised in partnership with the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service.
• Site Visit

OR

6 November, Ottawa
• UK supply-chain panel discussion and breakfast for specially invited Canadian federal government contacts.
• UK Industry showcase with invitations to target Canadian officials.
