Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company, is one of the largest integrated and diversified providers of rolling stock and infrastructure solutions and technologies for global rail customers. Progress Rail delivers advanced EMD® locomotives and engines, railcars, track, fasteners, signalling, rail welding and Kershaw® Maintenance-of-Way equipment, along with dedicated locomotive and freight car repair services, aftermarket parts support and recycling operations. The company also offers advanced rail technologies, including data acquisition and asset protection equipment.
Progress Rail’s deep industry expertise, together with the support of Caterpillar, ensures a commitment to quality through innovative solutions for the rail industry. We are proud to support our customers around the world with our network of nearly 200 locations across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Australia, China, India, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
LOCATIONS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM
In particular for the United Kingdom, we have locations in Doncaster, Yorkshire, England, which includes our Carcroft and Roberts Road locations. The Roberts Road location performs state-of-the-art rolling stock maintenance, while Carcroft serves as an OEM parts warehousing facility and supports logistics. Additionally, our Stoke-on-Trent, Stafforshire, England location, which includes our Longport facility, performs locomotive overhaul and full-service maintenance work for our UK customers, along with supporting international needs. Through these particular UK-based rolling stock locations, Progress Rail would value additional support for locomotive overhaul, maintenance and engine work.
FOCUS ON MIDDLE EAST
As global railways invest in critical infrastructure and take steps to update fleets to meet transportation needs, Progress Rail continues to expand our coverage and build upon our portfolio to serve our customers with quality support and today’s technologies. Our global facilities and knowledgeable staff are prepared to go the distance, including our UK facilities, to support customer needs in the Middle East, such as those arising in Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), we tailor our deep railway expertise for local markets to deliver world-class rolling stock, infrastructure and diesel engine solutions, with in-country support and efforts abroad.
For more than 60 years, Progress Rail has maintained a strong in-country presence through our EMD®-branded products, providing diesel-electric locomotives with a superior performance record. We are proud to continue that legacy with our broadened product offering to meet and exceed customer needs.
EMD® locomotives perform in some of the most extreme conditions, including extremely hot desert environments and rugged terrain. Our dedicated team has supplied and continues to support the majority of the locomotive fleet in the region. Progress Rail provides local rolling stock support and in-country services to our customers in the region, including offices in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi. Similarly, our Maintenance-of-Way division provides infrastructure support services through our Ballast Regulator equipment and aids in maintaining railways, through its sand removal attachment to clear rails of built-up sand.
We are committed to local economic development and have assisted and served the Middle East in important services, such as transportation of minerals and general goods, as well as passenger services.
