Green Shipping Corridors: Routes to a zero emissions future

28th September

Shipping is responsible for 80% of international trade but also 3% of the world’s CO2 emissions. In our interconnected world, it is critical for keeping the wheels of the global economy turning. But it will require a transformation of energy use if we are to make the global economy greener and address climate change.

Ahead of this year’s COP26 Climate Summit in Glasgow, the UK Co-Presidency is encouraging governments to sign the Clydebank Declaration in support of the creation of green shipping corridors – decarbonised shipping routes between two ports. This virtual conference brings together ports, shipping operators and others to discuss how, and how soon, we can make this decarbonisation ambition a reality. We will discuss barriers, and potential solutions, to the goal of decarbonising shipping, with contributions from across the shipping value chain. You will also hear from, and have the chance to meet, a selection of winners of the UK's Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition - companies at the cutting edge of decarbonisation technology.
